YAWAR FIESTA

This is an unprecedented festival whose characteristics make it a symbolic ritual unique in its kind and which has as protagonists to the most revered of the creatures of the Andes: The Condor.
Yawar Fiesta (the bloody feast) is held in the village of Collurqui, province Cotabambas, Apurimaq department and coincides with the celebration of the Peruvian patriot holidays (27, 28 and July 29).
You will witness a magnificent spectacle of an unforgettable majestic tragedy with the Condor, which represents the Andes and liberty, and in the other hand the bull representing the Spanish domination, ending with a Qhawsa or fiesta.
The next day we have the “Kacharpari” or farewell, where the population of Collurqui gives their goodbye to” Apu Condor”.  Suddenly occurs an enigmatic fact hard to believe cause from the deep canyons and breathtaking scenery a group of condors emerge and come to gather the Condor released: The divinity of the festival.
