CUSCO ADVENTURE

This is fully private adventure trip to the highlights of Cusco, where you will enjoy with daily activities, tours, excursions, hiking, camping, rafting, trekking, culture, history and an Inka jungle trip from Málaga Mount (14,270 ft), till we reach the Sanctuary of Machupicchu at the cloud-covered forest. A great adventure program that fits your budget and gives you a complete and unforgettable trip visiting Saqsaywaman, Qorikancha, Chinchero, Maras-Moray, Ollantaytambo and The Sacred valley of the Inkas.

ITINERARY

Day 01: CUSCO CITY TOUR
After arriving welcoming and transport to your hotel, then free morning to take a rest to ward off the altitude sickness. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the city with its beautiful Plaza de Armas (Main Square), which is rounded by majestic constructions such as the huge Cathedral and the sublime Company of Jesus Church. Next very close from the main square you`ll know the Qorikancha which is one of the most important and terrific temples of the Sun. A little farther to the surroundings you`ll admire archaeological sites of Saqsaywaman temple (12,140 ft), Qenqo, Puka-Pukara, and Tambomachay. Transfer to the Hotel. (L)

Day 02: CHINCHERO - MARAS - MORAY (Biking)
Today we travel to Chincheros (30 minutes NW of Cusco). Our guide will give us a briefing and then will begin this great sight-seeing bike tour riding through the exceptional places like the beautiful lagoon of Waypo, picturesque Andean villages, charming mountains, The amazing Vilcanota Mountain Range, Maras town, Moray and Salineras. Moray (11,100 ft), is a series of circular terraces worked into the ground used to test and develop new crops. Box lunch. We'll continue on to behold a spectacle of unusual beauty: the salt mines (Salineras), located on a wide-open hill above the Urubamba Valley. We'll round out our trip going down till Urubamba River, from where we'll transfer to Pisaq village (9,750 ft) and our hotel for the night. (B­/L/D)

Day 03: VILCANOTA RIVER (Rafting)
In the morning, we'll be transfer from Pisaq (9,750 ft) to Pachar, a town that straddles the Vilcanota River. Once we arrive, we'll receive instructions and a brief training course in rafting.  Around 10.00 am we’ll pass through the calmer parts of the river, where we can practice rafting techniques before hitting the faster Class II & III rapids. Our trip through this portion of the river will last between two and three hours.  In the afternoon, we'll return to Pisaq, then we drive up to Pisaq archeological site to have a guided tour.  We'll spend the night in our hotel in Pisaq. Day 04: OLLANTAYTAMBO - ABRA MALAGA - SANTA MARIADownhill: 80 km (Biking)
For this trip we leave Cusco in our own private van entering to the Sacred Valley of the Inkas and connecting nicest small villages of Chincheros, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. We continue travelling up to the highest pass named Abra Málaga (14,270 ft), at this point we’ll have a safety orientation regarding all the gear of our bikes, the protective equipment, and description of the route. We will begin our mixed tour (downhill biking + trekking) going from the Andes to the Amazon rain forest on a serpentine road. This day will be an amazing ride through the Andean geography and different ecologic niches, stopping at Carrizales village where lunch awaits us. We’ll ride our bikes from five to six hours, about 87 km and 7,500 feet of vertical-descent downhill. Late in the afternoon arrival to Santa Maria (6,560 ft), a quiet and nice place where we spend the night in family lodge. (B/L/T/D)

Day 05: SANTA MARIA - SANTA TERESA                                       Distance: 18 Km (Trekking)
We’ll enjoy an excellent breakfast with the finest coffee of town. After this begins six-hour hike, which gets progressively steeper connecting to Santa Rosa, where you can admiring the Coca plantations and the wonder views of high jungle. After we will continue hiking until we reach the real Inka jungle trail, which once extended the whole length of the Andes and united all of Tawantinsuyo. The descent continues for just over two hours until you reach small town named Q’ellomayo. Lunch at this charming place surrounded by pure nature. Make sure you have saved enough energy for the final stretch along the Vilcanota River we’ll reach the delicious natural hot springs Cocalmayo. After we enjoy the thermal baths water we continue hiking for one more hour to arrive to Santa Teresa (6,230 ft). Basic accommodations and dinner. (B/L)

Day 06: SANTA TERESA - HIDROELECTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES Distance: 16 Km (Trekking)
After breakfast start our trekking through trails filled with vegetation. Later we will cross the Vilcanota River through Oroya (Oroya is an iron cable to cross the river). This is the most fun and adventurous part of this amazing tour. Along the way we will enjoy wide variety of butterflies, parrots, birds and insects and the famous bird known as Cock of the Rocks (Rupicula Peruviana). At mentioned time will be the picnic next of Vilcanota River (Hydroelectric). Then we will continue walking around two hours and finally arrive to Aguas Calientes (6,560 ft), the base town for Machupicchu. There is an optional visit to the hot springs or the ascent of the mountain of Putukusi. Dinner and stay in nice comfortable hotel. (B/L)

Day 07: MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO

Early breakfast before taking the bus directly to Machupicchu (7,900 ft). (Optional for those wishing to walk: leave 04.30 am and walk up to Machupicchu arriving approx 06.00 am). In Machupicchu it is still a 15 minute-walk from the drop-off point to the famous views from the south zone of the farming terraces at the end of the Inka trail. Enjoy the early tour of Machupicchu with your guide who will explain the mysteries of this magical site, showing you the very best of it! Your guide will spend about two hours relating stories and explaining temples and special sectors. Then you have free time to take your photos before the 10:30 crowds arrive. You will also have the opportunity to climb Wayna Picchu Mountain (8,700 ft) or visit the Three Windows Temple. Once time is up we’ll take the bus to Aguas Calientes and we’ll provide a buffet lunch. We'll be transferred from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo by train, and by bus proceed back to Cusco. We'll check into our hotel and spend the night there. (B/L/D)


Day 08: TRANSFER OUT CUSCO - LIMA
In the morning, we will see you off at the Cusco airport for your flight for Lima, in time to catch your international flight. (B)
