ANDEAN MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURE - XC
08 Days - 07 Nights

SUMMARY
This is seven days of travel by bicycle riding and touring the most important places of Cusco. We’ll ride the best routes with experienced guides, safety equipment, excellent bikes and personalized assistant that guarantee a unique cross-country experience in the Andes.

Day 01: SALKANTAY COMMUNITY
Upon your arrival in Cusco our staff will greet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. After getting settled into your accommodations and followed by a few cups of coca tea you will take a rest and then meeting with the mountain bike guide who will give a briefing about this bike ride trip. In the afternoon and after lunch we will be transferred starting the first ride near to Cusco city at Salkantay village (13,478 ft.).We will cross impressive landscapes, reaching the Inka site of Chakan. We will start along a dirty road that will take us down to the valley following a parallel path through River Saphi, arriving right to the Main Square of Cusco. Welcoming dinner show. Hotel. (L/D)

Day 02: CUSCO - CHINCHERO - MORAY - VALLE SAGRADO
At 7.00 am we pick up from the hotel and travel by own private jeep to Chincheros (12,342 ft) village situated less than an hour away from Cusco, Here we begin our second day cross-country biking tour on the nice Andean landscape. We visit Lagoon Waypo, Moray (1,100 ft) agricultural laboratory, Maras colonial town surrounded by nice farming area, Salt-pans of Maras located on the way down to Urubamaba River, named Salineras, which are extensive terracing salt areas, controlled and used since before Inka days. Finally enjoy downhill bike ride to Urubamba-Sacred Valley. Picnic lunch. Will be a nice experience mixing the sport and knowledge of the Inka culture. After five hours biking around 30 km and stopping at different viewpoints we will drive to Ollantaytambo on late afternoon. Hotel. (B/L)

Day 03: OLLANTAYTAMBO - CHILCA
After breakfast we leave Ollantaytambo (9,200 ft) riding in our bicycles right to Chilca along the dirty road parallel to the River Vilcanota. After three-hour bike we arrive to Chilca. Afterwards we’ll return back to Ollantaytambo in our private supporting vehicle. Picnic lunch and guided visit to the Inka site. This is a terrific masterpiece of the Inka engineering known as “living Inka City”. Then transfer by train towards the town of Aguas Calientes. Hotel. (B/L)

Day 04: MACHUPICCHU
Very early in the morning transfer from Aguas Calientes (6,560 ft) to Machupicchu (7,900 ft). We will catch the sun-rise in this Sanctuary of the Inkas, the most astonishing display of natural beauty and architectural magnificence of Andean man. Then, there is a guided visit of the Temple of Machupicchu. You will have enough time to enjoy and wander off in your own and optionally ascend the mountain of Waynapicchu (8,700 ft). Return back to Aguas Calientes. Before to steeping on the train for our ride back to Cusco we have lunch. (B/L)

Day 05: CUSCO - Q'ORAO - HUCHUY QOSQO - LAMAY
On this day, our fourth trip by bicycle awaits us from Q’orao (12,500 ft) to the Sacred Valley passing through inhospitable and lonely paths, beautiful high-Andean lagoons and outstanding landscapes. Later on we’ll arrive at the impressive chamber of the Inka Yupanki in Huchu'y Qosqo or Small Cusco (11,150 ft), which stands over the sacred valley of the Inkas with panoramic and breath-taking views. Here we have Box-lunch and then downhill until the town of Lamay. Then we stay at a hotel. (B/L)

Day 06: CALCA - LARES
From Calca (9,500 ft) a route of beautiful single tracks and landscape awaits us. We drive up to the Abra de Lares (13,100 ft) surrounded by the impressive sceneries of the valley, the mountains and the River Machacancha. Then we start the slope down to Calca village, parallel to an ancient road of more than 500 years old. We will pass different terrains, from flat rocky surfaces on top of the mountain to fertile valleys at the middle and end of the trail. We will finally end this epic ride at the town of Calca on the Sacred Valley. Then we eat lunch and return to Cusco. (B/L)

Day 07: CUSCO - TIPON - PIKILLAQTA
On this day we visit the southern valley of Cusco. We go down by paved route and then dirty road around two-hour ride until we reach the impressive construction of Tipón (11,000 ft), sacred place of worship to the water and well-preserved Inka site with 500 years old. Guided visit. Later on we descend to the beautiful lagoon Lucre-Waqarpay, where we have a picnic lunch. Then we continue to the Pikillaqta zone. Finally we return to Cusco in the afternoon. At night we have a farewell dinner show. Hotel. (B/L/D)


Day 08: TRANSFER OUT - CUSCO - LIMA
In the morning, we will transfer you to Cusco airport for your flight for Lima, in time to catch your international flight. (B)
