DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE THROUGH THE ANDES - DH

SUMMARY
This trip is designed for lovers of downhill rides and for those who are looking for adventure and adrenaline in the geography of the Andes with the best downhill routes, beautiful landscapes, experienced guides, full biking gear and private supporting vehicle, travelling around all of Cusco and touring the most important and more beautiful places of the capital of the Inkas.
INTINERARY
Day 01: YUNCAYPATA DOWNHILL
CUSCO -SAQSAYWAMAN Vertical Descent: 1,600 ft
Skill Level: II y III
Upon your arrival in Cusco our staff will greet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. After getting settled into your accommodations and followed by a few cups of coca tea you will have meeting with the mountain bike guide who will give a briefing about this bike ride trip. Then we will take you on a city tour of the amazing Cusco (11,000 ft). After lunch we’ll drive up in our private car to visit the terrific temple of Saqsaywaman (12,140 ft) in our way to Yunkaypata (12,460 ft), a local trail that is becoming a favorite with local mountain bikers. The trail features lots of dirt jumps, close turns and narrow paths. As we descend the trail impressive views of the town of Cusco provide an incredible backdrop to our ride. Transfer to our Hotel. Day 02: MARAS - MORAY DOWNHILL
CUSCO - CHINCHERO - MORAY - MARAS - SACRED VALLEY OF THE INKAS
Vertical Descent: 2,600 ft
Skill Level: II, III, III+
We’ll be picked up from the hotel and travel by own private car to Chincheros (12,342 ft) village. Here we begin our cross country biking tour through the nice Andean landscape. We visit Lagoon Waypo, Moray agricultural laboratory, Maras colonial town surrounded by nice farming area and then the Salt-pams of Maras located on the way down to Urubamba River, called Salineras, which is an extensive terracing salt area, controlled and used since before Inka days. Finally we’ll enjoy downhill bike ride to Urubamba-Sacred Valley (9,500 ft). After a nice experience mixing cross country, downhill, knowledge of the Inka culture, five hours biking along 30 km and stopping at different viewpoints we have lunch at Urubamba town. Finally we go to our hotel in Pisaq where we spent the night there. (B/L)

Day 03: LARES DOWNHILL
LARES VALLEY - OLLANTAYTAMBO
Vertical Descent: 4,250 ft
Skill Level: III- IV
We will be transferred early in the morning from our hotel in Pisaq to the town of Calcathen we’ll drive up to the mountain pass of Lares (13,120 ft), where we will start another epic ride going through an impressive Inka trail that follows a narrow valley and The Machacancha River surrounded by big walls of granite. We'll pass one of the most impressive landscapes of the trip, crossing a deep canyon where it is only possible to make it walking or on our bikes. We will pass different terrains, from flat rocky surfaces on top of the mountain to fertile valleys at the middle and end of the trail. We will finally end this epic ride at the town of Calca (9,500 ft) on the Sacred Valley. Lunch and transfer to Ollantaytambo. Hotel. (B/L)

Day 04: MEGA – AVALANCHE
OLLANTAYTAMBO - MALAGA PASS
Vertical Descent: 5,000 ft
Skill Level: V
This day we will ride the Mega-avalanche downhill course, where top ranked racers like Steve Peat, Cedric Gracia, Filip Polc and Brian Lopes have raced, challenging the mountain, the altitude and the weather conditions. We start with a one-and-a-half hour bus ride to the Mountain pass of Málaga (14,270 ft), where we'll have great views of the glaciers like the Veronica Summit at more than 18,869 feet. The trail starts with a wide single-track on top of the mountain and then it turns to a narrow trail with many obstacles like rock steps, jumps and close turns. It will take us approximately one hour to complete the trail until we reach the village of Tank’a in the Sacred Valley (9,370 ft). Picnic lunch. In the afternoon we will be transferred to the Inka site of Ollantaytambo (9,200 ft), one of the most important Inka sites with a lot of history. Guided visit. After Ollantaytambo, we'll transfer by train to Aguas Calientes (6,560 ft). Reception and Hotel. There, you have the option of visiting the hot springs which give the town its name. (B/L)

Day 05: MACHUPICCHU
At around 6.00 am we’ll take an only half hour journey in bus up to the great Machupicchu (7,900 ft). For those who would like to walk up there just let us know your plans. The guided tour of Machupicchu is approx two hours, and then you have another two hours of free time to stroll around in awe and take pictures at your own pace. Once time is up you’ll return back by bus down through beautiful low land jungle to Aguas Calientes. Buffet lunch and transfer Aguas Calientes - Ollantaytambo - Poroy - Cusco. Hotel. (B/L)

Day 06: URQUILLOS - 711 MOUNTAIN
CUSCO - CHINCHERO - URQUILLOS - VALLE SAGRADO - 711 MOUNTAIN - SACRED VALLEY
Vertical Descent: 2,600 ft
Skill Level: III - IV
We will be transferred early in the morning to the town of Chinchero (12,342 ft). At the beginning we are going to ride through the Inka site of Chinchero with its incredible stone architecture and infinite rock steps to then enter into a deep canyon that will take us directly to the Sacred Valley passing by Urquillos village (9,700 ft) arriving to Yucay (9,500 ft). This is a one-hour technical downhill with more than 750 meters of vertical descent. On the second downhill we’ll return back in our way to 711 Mountain going down till Vilcanota River. Finally we will be transferred to Cusco City. Hotel. (B/L)

Day 07: SALKANTAY DOWNHILL
Vertical Descent: 1,500 ft
Skill Level: III
In the morning and after breakfast we will be transferred starting the last downhill near to Cusco city on the village of Salkantay (12,500 ft). We will cross impressive landscapes, reaching the Inka site of Chakan. We will start the DH ride that will take us down to the valley about two-hour-downhill following a parallel path along The Saphi River, arriving right to the Main Square of Cusco. The rest of the day you can relax and explore this beautiful navel of the Andean world. Farewell dinner show. Hotel. (D/C)
Day 08: CUSCO - LIMA
In the morning transfer to Cusco airport for your flight for Lima, in time to catch your international flight. (B)
