SUMMARY

You will enjoy five-day trip by bike riding and travel around 300 km from the city of the Cusco up to the Lake Titicaca. A spectacular route by bicycle touring beautiful places as the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, the South Valley of Cusco and the high plateau in Puno. A unique experience for riders and amateurs accompanied with experienced guides, safety equipment, excellent bikes, personalized attention and private supporting vehicle that guarantee an unforgettable trip into the Andes.

Day 01: CUSCO - PISAQ

Upon your arrival in Cusco our staff will greet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. After getting settled into your accommodations and followed by a few cups of coca tea to ward off the altitude sickness, you will have meeting with the mountain bike guide who will give a briefing about this bike ride trip. Today the adventure begins with a moderate ascent from Cusco city until the archaeological complex of Saqsaywaman (12,140 ft), where we have a guided visit. After that, we follow an undulating paved road directly to the mountain pass of Q'orao (12,500 ft), seeing small farms with colorful crops growing in harmonious patterns on the hillsides. Here we make a photo-stop break and get some snacks and drinks. Then we will enjoy a sweeping descent surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Sacred Valley of the Inkas until Pisac town. There we have lunch. Later on in the afternoon we visit the archaeological complex of Pisaq. Then we stay at a hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 02: PISAQ - CHECACUPE

On this day we leave Pisaq (9,750 ft) right to the southern valley of Cusco passing by the Waqarpay lagoon (10,000 ft), a beautiful water mirror refuge of thousands of birds on their way from the coast to the Andes. Then we continue on until Urcos village. There we have a picnic lunch, and continue our tour by flat and moderate paved road until reach Checacupe (11,500 ft), located 98 km away from Cusco. Campsite, dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)

Day 03: CHECACUPE - SICUANI - LA RAYA

This is the hardest day. After breakfast, we start the bike ride toward Raqchi (11,500 ft), where we will visit the temple of Wiraqocha, an impressive Inka site surrounding by pre-Inca terraces and extinct volcano at the top of the mountains. Afterwards we have lunch. Next we will head out for the city of Sicuani (11,500) for about 31 km passing through remote and rarely visit village of farmers. Then we continue pedalling 40 km more through a flat section then we will ascend till we reach the borders in between Cusco and Puno named La Raya(12,200 ft), the entrance to the Andean Plateau “Altiplano”. Here we enjoy the relaxing thermal waters of San Pedro. Late lunch and camp near of the hot springs on the bottom of Vilcanota range (12,500 ft). (B/L/D)

Day 04: LA RAYA - AYAVIRI - CHIFRON

First a good breakfast, after that we prepare our equipment, we leave La Raya. The climate and landscape correspond to the Puna: cold and windy. Leaving behind us the great mountains and green vegetation, we enter to an area with big flat fields and meandering rivers. Around noon our support team is waiting for us with lunch and make sure you have saved enough energy for the final stretch we continue on toward village of Ayaviri (12,800 ft). After that we drive up in our private car to the beach of Chifrón in the Titicaca Lake. We camp, dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)

Day 05: CHIFRON - PUNO

After breakfast, you can wonder off on your own exploring the beautiful beach of Chifrón (12,500 ft). On this day we cycle through a dirt road surrounded by the terrific views of Lake Titicaca. Continue cycling on the asphalt and sometimes taking single tracks between the agriculture terraces and meeting local people working the fields. Break for lunch on half way. Finally we ride the last stretch arriving to the City of Puno 12,500 feet of height and 390 km away from Cusco city. (B/L)
